Like you've noticed however, it's not incredibly well designed, and it is prone to issues and crashes, but once you get used to its eccentricities it can be a really nice program for painting. Unlike Photoshop it doesn't have great manipulation tools, but the painting is, in my opinion, a little bit more enjoyable because of the way brushes behave, and how extensively you can customize the brushes. If you want to work with a fast workflow, especially for making quick concepts, it's the best program around, but even if you only want to paint in it, it's still a really solid program.Ĭorel Painter has a great brush engine, and makes for a more traditional-like approach to painting, while still retaining the benefits of working digital. Even though the brush engine isn't great, you can still paint in it just as well as any other program, and I think in general it's a pretty intuitive program to get used to.
